Namaskar and welcome to Foodzone.Today we will make Dabeli.
Dabeli is a street food of Gujarat.
It looks like a burger but is very much different in taste from it.



ingredients are required for making Dabeli.


Coriander seeds - 2 tsp

Cumin seeds - 1 tsp

Cinnamon stick - 1-inch piece

Cloves - 2

Black pepper - 4

Red chilly - 1

Roast these spices and grind finely. Dabeli masala will be ready.



Ingredients for Dabeli stuffing:

Potato - 3 (boiled and peeled)

Tomato - 1 (finely chopped)

Green coriander - 1 tbsp (finely chopped)

Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp

Asafoetida - 1 pinch

Green chilly - 1 (finely chopped)

Ginger - 1-inch piece (grated)

Salt - as per taste or 1/2 tsp

Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp

Butter - 1 tbsp

Oil - 1 tbsp


Ingredients for making Dabeli:


Pomegranate seeds - 1/2 cup

Green coriander chutney - 1/2 cup

Sev - 1/2 cup

Green coriander leaves - 1/2 cup (finely chopped)

Sweet chutney - 1/2 cup

Sing dana or masala peanuts - 1/2 cup

Butter - 1 tbsp

Pav 6-8 or as per recipe


Roast the spices first. Masala is now roasted.
Let it cool down completely and then grind it finely.
Dabeli masala will get ready.

Dabeli masala is ready, now prepare stuffing for dabeli. Add around 1 tbsp butter first in a heated pan or Kadai.
Also, add 1 tbsp oil into it. Add asafoetida and cumin seeds as well.



When cumin seeds turn a little brown in color add turmeric powder Green chilly, ginger and tomatoes.
Cook until tomatoes get mashed nicely. When tomatoes get cooked nicely, add finely mashed potatoes into it.
Add salt, dabeli masala around 1.5 tsp and green coriander leaves.



Cook until all ingredients get blended nicely. Dabeli stuffing is now ready.
Fill the stuffing in the pav for making dabeli.

Make a cut in pav. After making the cut spread some butter on top and beneath the pav for roasting it.
After roasting pav stuff it with filling and rest of the things.



Firstly spread some sweet chutney on one side. Spread green chutney on the other side.
You can also use tomato chutney instead of green chutney Use red chutney or green chutney whichever you like the most.
Now place 1 tsp dabeli filling into the pav like this. Also place pomegranate, sev, sing dana, masala peanuts and coriander leaves.


Mouth drooling dabeli is now ready. Gujarati street food Dabeli is ready.
