Mohanlal’s Thudarum Makes History: First Malayalam Film to Earn ₹100 Crore in Kerala Alone
Malayalam
cinema has just witnessed a historic moment! Mohanlal’s latest film Thudarum
has become the first Malayalam movie to collect ₹100 crore at the Kerala box
office alone, smashing the previous record held by the 2023 hit 2018.
Thudarum Breaks Records at Kerala Box Office
Directed
by Tharun Moorthy, Thudarum is a gripping crime thriller that has been
dominating theaters since its release. The film stars Malayalam cinema legend
Mohanlal alongside Sobhana, and has been receiving massive appreciation from
both critics and audiences.
Mohanlal
celebrated this record-breaking milestone on social media, writing:
“Thudarum
storms into the record books with its first 100 crore mark exclusively at the
Kerala box office! A milestone that we created together! Thank you, Kerala.”
The
official poster of the film now proudly reads:
“A new
chapter in Kerala box office history. ₹100 crore Kerala gross.”
Surpassing 2018’s Box Office Milestone
Before Thudarum,
the highest-grossing Malayalam film in Kerala was 2018, which earned
₹83.31 crore net in the state and ₹110.53 crore gross across India. But now, Thudarum
has taken the lead with an impressive ₹104 crore net collection across India
in just 19 days, according to Sacnilk.
Globally,
the film has earned ₹208 crore in 18 days, and while it is still behind
all-time Malayalam hits like L2: Empuraan and Manjummel Boys,
it’s quickly climbing the ranks.
